FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I book in?

By submitting your registration from this website via an online booking form.

Are ecclesial members from Southland & Otago given preferential booking,
or are bookings open to everyone?

While we'd love to accommodate everyone, the facility is limited to approx 150 attendees.
Once bookings open to all, preferential booking is given to Southland  & Otago members for the first month. After this (and subject to venue capacity limits) bookings are filled as follows:
Firstly to those waitlisted who missed out in the prior year, and
Secondly, to others who applied in order of their waitlisting.

Can children attend without parents?

Children under the age of 18 can only attend without their parents if they are 'hosted' by another family group who agree to take responsibility for them.

I'm single - can I still come to a family camp?

Of course! We have single brothers and sisters join us every year. You will be welcome as part of the ecclesial family.

Can I bring my tent/caravan?

Yes, there are a number of powered and non-powered sites.  Unfortunately the fees charged by the venue are the same for campers and so we are unable to offer a rebate for those in tents and caravans/campers.

Which Ecclesia hosts Lakeland?

The camp is arranged under the auspices of the Invercargill ecclesia and is designed to provide an opportunity for Brothers and Sisters to enrich their experience of ecclesial & family life and to grow their faith and friendships around God's Word.

It is a family camp and we ask all parents to take responsibility for looking after the members of their own family group throughout the camp.

How is the camp funded?

The camp runs at a loss every year because fees are set at a level to barely cover the accommodation costs.
Food and speaker expenses well exceed fees collected.  However donations of  food and cash have made the camp fees sustainable to-date.
Thank you to everyone who's helped!

Do we cater for special dietary requirements?

We try to provide alternatives for those who are Gluten Free.
For other requirements we try to make the menu known so that you can bring what any extras you need to the camp.

Will there be a dorm for teenage boys and girls?

Maybe.   When trying to work through fitting everyone in, separate dorms are not always possible.

Can we arrange our own accommodation offsite and
come as day visitors?

We prefer to have everyone staying on-site and participating in the full programme.
In certain circumstances we do agree to attendees staying off-site - please check with the hosts.

What time does the
camp start & end?

START:  Arrivals start after 3pm on Thursday. Tea is served at approx 6.30pm.   Our first study usually commences at about 8pm.
Please let us know if you are not going to be there for the meal on Thursday night.
END:  The camp ends after clean-up and lunch on Sunday afternoon.
Have a look at the sample programme on the Camp Details page.
